Profile: Courtney Parr

Courtney is a Trauma Therapist with the Violence Intervention and Prevention Program (VIPP) at Health Sciences North.

Courtney was inspired to pursue a career with children after having the opportunity to volunteer in Atlantic City after the devastation of super storm Sandy. There, she was able to witness how children, especially those experiencing trauma and crisis, can be so incredibly resilient. From then on she has been devoted to a career where she is able to work with children and promote the best possible future for them.

Her area of focus is with individuals who have experienced acute trauma. She works with children and youth (ages 0-15) who have experienced child maltreatment and exploitation.

She believes the growth of NEO Kids will drastically change how children are medically treated, as children have a beautiful gift of imagination, creativity, and happiness.

“Children have a lot to teach us professionals with their kindness, compassion, humility and courage.”
